So today I went to the clinic and all started off well... Then it got to be about 9am and we looked at the schedule and the patients present and we reliazed we were about 4 patients behind...by 11 we were 8 patients behind. But we got them all done!! Today was good though becuase I was able to speak with the diabetes educator about problems she faces on a daily basis, as far as compliance goes. She said that one of the main things she sees is a fear of insuiln. This causes problems because insulin is something almost all people with diabetes will have to take at one point in their life, the only question is how long until they will have to start taking it. She said because of this mentality many people will not take it beause they think insulin causes a plethura of complications like: amputation, heart disease, neuropathy, and even death. However, it is not the insulin that causes these problems but rather is something that helps slow down the progress of these complications.
