San Jose Clinic

I am going to complete my 10 hours of community service at the San Jose Clinic. I have been volunteering at that clinic since August. I will be going in to the clinic on Monday mornings from 8 to 12. Through continuing this volunteer project I hope to work more with the CDE, or certified diabetes educator. I have been helping her understand how type 1 diabetes is managed and I have brought in devices to let her play with, like old insulin pumps I have, to explain to her how they work since she has never worked with one. I also try to explain to her the many regimens  I have encountered throughout the years I have work with children with type 1 diabetes. So, what I would like to accomplish while volunteering at the clinic is knowing that people with type 1 diabetes can be treated more effectively. Also, I would like to shadow an endocrinologist during my time at the clinic.
